Offshore Lab Building
Gulf Land Structures recently completed an offshore laboratory building that is used to test samples containing flammable hydrocarbons under a vent hood. The Client decided not to pressurize the building in accordance with NFPA 496 so all electrical is rated for Class I, Division 1, Groups C&D inside and Class, I, Division 2, Groups C&D outside. The fume hood is rated for 600 CFM and this air was brought in and dehumidified through the HVAC system. The HVAC system also provided positive pressure inside the building that was regulated by a barometric relief damper.
